No.18: Garden case study
- Garden tidy
- Planting plan
- Regular ongoing maintenance
The challenge:
This garden had become neglected in recent years ahead of the current owners moving in. While the lawn had been periodically mown, the garden had developed pernicious weeds, which were rapidly overtaking existing hard landscaping and gravelled areas, making the garden inaccessible to this mature couple with mobility issues.
What I did:
- Extensive weeding
- Cleared broken and unwanted landscaping elements and gravel
- Rejointed paving
- Soil amelioration and improvement
- Carried out regenerative pruning and training of shrubs and roses
- Built a new raised bed
- Created a bespoke planting plan using pollinator friendly species in jewel colours, to complement existing plants.
- Incorporated some treasured specimens from the clients’ previous garden, including a Camelia japonica, Fatsia japonica and Abelia grandiflora, plus a small self-fertile apple tree
- Installed a water feature of the clients’ choosing
- Ongoing maintenance and lawn care.
