I'm Emma, founder of Astrantia Garden Care.

Here's my story...

I’ve been helping people maintain and create gardens they love since 2002, which was when I first started working as a gardener. But I truly understand how life can get in the way of keeping on top of your garden, because since then I’ve been a busy mum with a full-time corporate career; The time and energy needed to focus on my own garden, let alone anyone else’s, was often sorely lacking.

In 2024 life presented a much-needed opportunity to get-off the corporate hamster wheel and refocus on horticulture full time. Since then, I’ve been refreshing my qualifications and have had the pleasure of working on many exciting garden projects and collaborations, alongside volunteering regularly in the gardens at English Heritage’s Wrest Park.

In 2025 I launched Astrantia Garden Care, a female-led company based in Ampthill, Bedfordshire. My mission is to create outdoor spaces for people to enjoy, by gardening for them or with them, making space for wildlife and time for relaxation.

I hold both RHS Level 2 Principles of Plant Growth and Development, and RHS Level 2 Practical Horticulture, passed with distinction. I am currently expanding my knowledge by studying for the  RHS Level 3 Diploma and a professional Garden Design qualification, enabling me to expand the range of services that I can offer very soon.
